If you haven't played Crimson Skies yet, shame on you!  This old PC arcade flyer from Microsoft Games sacrifices realism for simple arcade action and a fantastic storyline.  The story is so immersive that an entire series of books have been written based on the exploits of the main character, Nathan Zachary and his intrepid crew.  Try this sample chapter on for size:
